Our first week...
Now that Ivy is here, we are all doing a little bit of adjusting. Natalie and I are adjusting to a few hours of sleep a night (if we are lucky), and Ivy is adjusting to life outside of a spa treatment! We couldn't be happier with her in our life. I hate to say it but we are definitely wrapped around her little finger, mostly because her fingers are so cute! She actually isn't very fussy at all until late evening when she suddenly gets a burst of energy and feels like being awake and very alive. She's undoubtedly growing like a little weed. Last night she was pretty awake around midnight so I took her down into the kitchen and she helped me cook up some chicken. Of course by the time it was done cooking and I was ready to eat, she had a blow out in her diaper... welcome to parenthood! Here are some pics!

Ivy's here!
Ivy Shai Wallace was born August 1, 2012 at 10:47am in Pittsburgh, PA. She was a whopping 6 lbs, 8 oz & 20.5 inches long. It all started on Tuesday night while we were watching a somewhat cheesy movie (Cape Fear) after trying to convince my mom that it wasn't going to happen for a few more weeks. Natalie started having some contractions but they seemed like they could be false labor so we weren't taking them incredibly serious (although I started running like a chicken with my head cut off packing for the hospital just in case). The contractions weren't regular by any means but decided we should call the doc when Natalie's contractions kept going on after 3 1/2 hrs.
The doc told us to make our way to the hospital so they could check to see if she was dilating. Somehow I knew that this was going to be it so I packed the car up, grabbed Kimbo (our dog) to drop him off at a friends and we were on our way!
Once we got to the hospital, I realized the one thing I had left was my wallet and since the hospital is down by all the Universities, everyone (including patients) have to pay to park there. Natalie and I were both super stressed about it. We decided to wait until we got the 'okay to stay' or the 'boot home' to figure out when I was going to go get it.
After waiting in a somewhat crowded waiting room, they took us back to a little triage room where they hooked Nat up. After what seemed like a night of waiting around, the OB came in and examined Nat and found that she was 4cm dilated. They told us to stay and they were going to check back in a few hours to see if she was progressing at all. So Natalie and I turned on some Olympics and just crossed our fingers. A few hours later they came back and Nat was 5 cm dilated and the doc decided we were going to stay!
Knowing that I wasn't going to be leaving that hospital room once everything everything was in motion, I convinced the police officer to let me out of the parking lot without paying so I could drive home and grab my wallet.
A few hours after I got back they put us in the labor and delivery room. The A/C control was broken in the room so it was like a refrigerator and there was nothing we could do to warm it up! We were up all night while Nat worked through contractions. Then around 10:00am, Nat was ready to start pushing. The only problem with this is that our delivering doctor wasn't around and was just called up for an emergency C-section so I was ready to catch Ivy if it came down to that! After only 20 minutes of Natalie pushing with me and a nurse, the doctor walked in and was ready for her to deliver. It only ended up taking 37 minutes of pushing until our little bundle of sunshine made her appearance!
